What is EOSForce Mainnet?

Introduction

EOSForce mainnet is a high-performance blockchain network based on multi-chain hierarchical architecture. The main chain based on EOSIO open source software is launched by EOSForce team on June 22, 2018. EOSForce mainnet assets are distributed fully in accordance with genesis snapshot. EOS token holders can use the mapped private key to sign offline and activate assets of EOSForce.io mainnet.

Considering that EOSIO open source software is still not mature, it may cause the mainnet unstable after being launched rashly. Therefore, the EOSForce team made in-depth optimization of EOSIO at the beginning of the mainnet, optimized the unreasonable community governance rules and the system mechanism with security risks, such as voting rules set to one-coin-one-vote, removing node privileges such as super privilege that violate the decentralization concept, modifying the highly innovative but unverified resource-collateral-model to a more efficient fee-model, and so on.

After a series of repairs and optimizations for EOSIO, the EOSForce team launched the EOS mainnet with minimal functionality, effectively ensuring the stability and security of the mainnet, and guarantee the equity and currency holders’ rights. Because the EOSForce mainnet community governance rules are more in line with the community’s wishes, the community activity of the mainnet is very high. In less than two months after the launch, the registered account of the mainnet has reached 380,000, with thousands of transactions per day, and the voting rate of activated accounts is as high as 80%.

EOSForce is moving out of its new strategic route, upgrading the mainnet architecture from a single mainnet to a single settlement-layer main chain with multiple computing-layer side chains , making the EOSForce mainnet more secure and stable, while also improving the mainnet’s scalability and good development environment. At the same time, EOSForce designed a heterogeneous multi-chain system based on DPOS mechanism. In the future, EOSForce mainnet will form a complete multi-chain ecosystem. While breaking through the performance bottleneck of blockchain, it will also break the current “value-island” status of blockchain , and achieve the cross-chain interconnection between isomorphism and heterogeneous chains.

Improvements of EOSForce

EOSForce mainnet is based on EOSIO open source software, and the mainnet assets are distributed fully in accordance with genesis snapshot. It is strictly the EOS mainnet. However, there is more than one EOS mainnet. Before the EOSForce mainnet was launched, an anonymous team EMLG launched an EOS mainnet (hereinafter referred to as EMLG mainnet) based on the EOSIO open source software without any modification. However, because EOSIO itself is not mature, the operation of EMLG mainnet is not satisfactory after its launch. In comparison, the EOSForce mainnet has the following differences:

One-coin-one-vote

EOSForce mainnet sets the voting rule as one-coin-one-vote. Compared with the one-coin-30-votes of the EMLG mainnet, one-coin-one-vote effectively avoids the situation of large-holding joint nodes and the alliance and mutual investment between the nodes, to prevent the mainnet from falling into the centralized governance of the Qatar Alliance. Judging from the current actual operation situation, a large number of votes have a very high degree of overlap on EMLG mainnet. The EOSForce mainnet avoids this situation because it adopts a one-coin-one-vote voting mechanism.

Open Block Producers’ Reward Rights

Incentive is a very important part of the blockchain system. The DPOS consensus mechanism adopted by EOS requires community voting and selects 23 block producers to maintain the mainnet operation. In this process, if the incentive mechanism exists only in the node block-generating link and the community voting does not receive any incentives, then the enthusiasm of the community voting is obviously not high. The EOSForce mainnet opens the rights for block producer to give users rewards, which effectively increases the willingness of the community to vote. The voting rate of the activated account is as high as 80%, which is nearly half higher than the EMLG mainnet’s 40% voting rate .

Removing the Super-privilege

EOSIO’s native design gives the block producers the power of super-privilege, allowing the block producers to use user’s assets, such as freezing and transfer, without the user’s private key. Because this super-privilege completely violates the decentralization concept of the blockchain, user’s assets cannot be guaranteed to be absolutely secure, so the EOSForce mainnet has removed the super-privilege when it launched. On the EOSForce mainnet, no one can use user’s assets without the user’s private key.

The Fee Model

EOSForce mainnet changed the resource mortgage model to a more efficient handling fee model, mainly because the resource mortgage model is innovative, but not mature and feasible. This can be verified on the EMLG mainnet. The current EMLG mainnet renewable CPU and NET resources cannot defend against zero-cost DDOS attacks. The non-renewable resident RAM auction algorithm and the ideal of free transactions also run counter to each other. After the EMLG mainnet was flooded with junk transactions and the RAM resources were speculated, the transfer cost, account registration cost, and DAPP development cost were all very high, making users and development teams miserable. At this point, the EOSForce mainnet with handling fee model is more practical and more friendly to users and development team.

Minimize Function Launches

Many designs of EOSIO are very innovative, but like the resource mortgage model, they are still immature and unverifiable. In order to ensure the security and stability of the chain and the security of the user’s assets, EOSForce does not launch all functions at one time, but starts with a minimal function. It is stable and steady. Compared to the EOS EMLG, it is lighter and safer, avoiding unknown security risks.

Emergency State

EOS chain is still in its very early stages from its launch to the present, and the stability of the chain has not stood the test of time and various unforeseen emergencies. In order to cope with possible emergencies, the EOSForce mainnet provides the function of setting the emergency status. When 16 block producers agree to open the emergency state, the EOS chain will enter the block producer management state. After entering the state of emergency, the functions including voting, rewarding, transfers, etc., which may affect the security of the user’s assets, will stop and only allow block producer management operations. After the problem is solved, the block producers can choose to close the emergency state. When the number of BPs who closing the emergency state is greater than 8, the full function of the chain will be restored.

EOSForce Multi-chain Hierarchical Architecture

EOSForce mainnet was born based on EOSIO, but has a very different strategic direction from EOSIO. EOSForce is coming out of its new route.

EOSForce upgrades a single mainnet to a single settlement-layer main chain and multiple computing-layer side chains architectures. The settlement-layer main chain only undertakes the basic currency settlement function, maintaining a streamlined, efficient and high security positioning, and does not support users to deploy smart contracts. Computing-layer side chains can support deploying applications, multiple underlying chain technologies and smart contract technologies, and can establish independent constitutional rules, resource issuance rules, and more.

The multi-chain layered architecture and multi-chain technology of EOSForce mainnet will achieve the following goals.

The Security and Stability

The settlement-layer main chain only undertakes the currency settlement function, with the most simplified functions to obtain maximum security and stability. Smart contract can be deployed in the side chain. Chains and chains can interact through the relay layer but do not affect each other. Applications running on different side chains do not affect each other. This hierarchical structure of the main chain and side chain with different responsibilities is effective to ensure the security and stability of the mainnet.

The Extremely High-performance

The multi-chain layered architecture provides EOSForce mainnet with high scalability. Anyone can set up a side chain, and access the relay layer to interconnect with the main chain and other side chains to become part of the EOSForce mainnet. At present, the performance of single-chain is still at the thousand level. When the single-chain performance reaches one million TPS, the performance of the EOSForce mainnet composed of multiple chains will be unimaginable.

Friendly Development Environment

EOSForce mainnet allows multiple side chains to link into the entire ecosystem. On the one hand, this will enable the supply of resources to fully meet the needs of the market, making the resources on the chain cheap and affordable. On the other hand, application developers can deploy their own dedicated side chains to obtain stable resources and TPS, fully guaranteeing that the DApp will not be interfered by other applications.

Chains Interconnection

EOSForce has designed a heterogeneous multi-chain system based on the excellent consensus mechanism brought by EOS. The EOSForce mainnet provides a relay layer responsible for connecting with the settlement layer, and provides a function of communicating with the settlement layer and communicating with the side chain for the side chain connecting the relay layers. In addition to the isomorphic chain, the EOSForce mainnet also allows the heterogeneous chain to be a side chain as long as it satisfies the protocol with the relay layer. In the future, EOSForce.io will also deploy a decentralized exchange on the relay layer to achieve value exchange between multiple chains. Each side chain on the EOSForce mainnet is not an island of value, but a value Internet that can be interconnected and chained.

Eco-migration

EOSForce supports seamless migration of applications based on other chains. Computing layer of EOSForce mainnet will expand the network technology stack and introduce other underlying chain technologies and smart contract technologies, including but not limited to: EOSIO application chain based on WASM virtual machine, Ethereum application chain based on EVM , Cardano chain based on IELE virtual machine, Zcash chain based on zero-knowledge proof, etc. Developers will be able to easily port existing applications to the EOSforce ecosystem.

Current Situation and Future

EOSForce mainnet has developed into a fairly large community and has a large number of loyal supporters. The mainnet registration account is nearly 400,000, and the daily transaction volume keeps at more than 4000.
